Still Life with Onion

When I saw this old wall, I immediately fell in love with its texture and colors. Addition of some colors and spices made the combination incredible.

The onion looked amazingly colorful against the wall and other fruits and vegetables, showing all its yellows, oranges, greens and golds.

The only choice left for me was to paint this still life.

New painting is coming

I am about to finish a new mysterious painting "Prophetic Dream". It is surrealistic and philosophical.

If after looking at it tomorrow, I make a decision not to touch it anymore, it will be published in the Daily Art Show on Tuesday.

About the "Summer Harvest"

Apricots always remind me about my parent’s summer house back in Russia.

We had a huge and very old apricot tree with an old metal bed under it. The tree had so many fruits on it that it looked orange. It was fun to maneuver away from the falling apricots while lying on the bed on a hot summer day. I could feel the warmness of the day and the smell of apricots while painting this picture.

Forgotten Warmness

This painting started with the luck of finding this tea kettle at the antic store. I was really excited when I figured out that it was from about the year 1850!!!

 When I touched it, I immediately imagined the whole family sitting around the table and sharing their stories of the day with each other: kids listening to the fairytales, women doing embroidery or knitting, men resting after the hard day. The green bottle came to my collection really soon, the photo of my great grandmother was added and the magic has started.

 I used warm colors to reflect the atmosphere of this imagined situation and, hopefully, everybody looking at the painting can feel this warmness.
